First Impression: Our first impression is that a child realized they didnt want to grow up from the event that just occured. Another impression we got was that the crab acted as if she was good and then ate him.
Evocative Language: "watched, color of green jade, shadowed, daring, touch, unafraid, young, velvet petals, princess under water, took, sighed and closed, swim, hushed and still, pearly flesh, salty blood, ran away"
Figurative Language: "made the sea anemone seem like a "princess", crab was hushed, she sighed, she gave him back"
Structure: Lines; seems like a short story
Main Idea: Things dont always seem the way we want it to be. Someone is too scared to grow up based on the experience that just occured.
Thea, Amber, Jisel
Step 1: A child witnesses an anemone harming the crab and is scared by how violent the beautiful anemone can be.
Step 2: Shadowed, green jade, colored, rare, afraid, daring, watched.
Step 3: Princess of rare jade, Princess under water, crab was hushed, velvet petals, pearly flesh, salty blood.
Step 4: Metaphor?
Step 5: That life could be so unpredictable and welcoming but you never really know. (like Twilight - the vampires)
Angela, Kiana, Arleen, Kiara.
Step 1: She is shocked to find out that something so beautiful can kill.
Step 2: green jade, princess, velvet, softly, pearly, daring, under water, young, salty blood, rare, shadowed, hushed, still, sighed
Step 3: Softly she gave him back, sucked of all his pearly flesh, sucked all of his salty blood. I saw a daring crab unafraid and young. The little crab was hushed and still-Never would he swin again.
Step 4: 4 stanzas, that varied in length. kind of repetitive (water at the end of all most every sentence.)
Step 5: The main idea of this poem is that she is learning about new things but is afaraid of them. This makes her unsure about how the real world will treat her when she grows up.

First Impression: My first impression of this poem is that it is really confusing and that i have no idea what this poem is about.
Evocative Language: Shadowed, daring, unafraid, velvet, sighed, hushed, rare, pearly.
Figurative Language: That princess of rare jade, Velvet pedals of that princess.
Structure: The structure is the same of a typical poem which has verses and lines.
Main Idea: The main idea of this poem is about a girl not wanting to grow up due to the fact that there is so much scary things in the real world.
Ciarah&Kirsten&Samara
First Impression: Growing up is a hard thing to do in life. Also, that
Evocative Language:"daring crab, Unafraid and young, hushed and still, sucked of all his pearly flesh, sucked of all his salty blood"
Figurative Language:"princess under water, she took him in, softly she sighed and closed"
Structure:No rhyming with in the lines, so seems like a short story
Main Idea: Death is a way of life. Also the most scary part of growing up.
Cody, Kelvin, Justin, Austin
First Impression: We were all very confused at first and we thought that of a crab being eaten and the person got scared.
Evocative Language: "watched, daring, unafraid, hushed, softly, pearly flesh, salty blood"
Figurative Language:"the sea anemone like a "princess" softly took him in and crab was hushed"
Main Point: People always don't see things the way that the wantsituations to be and as a result people don't want to grow up becuse they don't want what they saw happen to them in the future.
First impression:
My first impression of this poem is that a child is pretty much afraid of things happening to her, just like what happened to the crab.
Evocative Language:
" shadowed, daring, unafraid, young, sighed, closed, hushed, still"
Figurative Language:
"Sucked of all his pearly flesh, sucked of all his salty blood."
"Princess of rare jade"
"Princess under water"
Structure:
Verses, seems like a short story.
Main Idea:
For the child, she/he experienced something scary, death, and it's a part of growing up, but she/he is afraid of growing up.
First Impression: My first impression was of a child being scared of the world. Watching the sea anemone eat the little crab probably made the child scared of the world - having the crab represent the child & the sea anemone representing other people in the world - possibly cruel and intimidating.
Evocative Language: watched, color of jade green, shadowed, daring, unafraid and young, sighed and closed, hushed and still, pearly flesh, salty blood
Figurative Language: touch the velvet petals, princess under water, took him in, signed and closed, never would he swim again, princess of rare jade, softly she gave him back
Format/Structure: No pattern or rhyming and kind of like a short story/metaphor put together
Main Idea: Being young and not having much knowledge of the world, children are afraid and shy. There is so much for them to learn, and sometimes they might be intimidated by people or traumatized from seeing things that may have happened to others.

Step3: "Softly she gave him back" "sucked of all his pearly flesh" "sucked all of his salty blood" "little crab was hushed"
Step4: lines that is somewhat of a short story
Step5: This poem is about a girl who's afraid to embark on new journeys. Although it seems as if shes brave. She really isn't.
